RICHARD PRICE EXPIRED EARLY THIS MORNING
Member of Pioneer Guilford Family
Richard J. Price died at his home at 2:45 o'clock this morning, following a stroke of paralysis, which he suffered several weeks ago. He was sixty-seven years old.
Mr. Price was born in Guilford township, October 31, 1855. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Price, who passed away several years ago. Both Mr. Price's parents were native of Montgomeryshire, Wales, coming to America in 1850.
Mr. Price's father served three years in the Civil War. He was enrolled as a member of Company D, Seventy-fourth Illinois Volunteer Infantry.
Mr. Price spent most of his boyhood days on the old home farm where he lived continuously with the except of seven years spent in South Dakota. At one time Mr. Price owned considerable land in that state and at the time of his death owned a large farm in Guilford Township, having throughout his life followed farming up to three years ago when he retired, moving to the home on Jefferson street.
In 1880 Mr. Price was married to Clara Teachout, of Rockford, a daughter of Gilbert and Melissa Teachout, early residents of this county. THree children were born of this union, Eva May, who died in South Dakota, at the age of six years, Mrs. Peter Ralston and Herbert H. Price, both of Guilford Township.
In addition, Mr. Price is survived by his widow, two sisters, Miss Ellen Price and Mrs. Fannie Melin, Withee, Wis.; one brother, Frank H. PRice Woodstock S.D. and five grandchildren.
Mr. Price was a member of the Guilford Hope grange, with which he was connected for forty years. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen camp, No. 20 of Rockford, member of Masonic order and Sons of Veterans.
Funeral services for Mr. Price will be held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ralston of Guilford township, at 3 o'clock. Burial will be made in Reid cemetery. [5]
