Obituary
From the Auburn Citizen, Thursday, November 7, 1963:
Walter S. Price, 52, Homer businessman, died in Cortland Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon after suffering a fractured skull when his pickup truck crashed.
Cortland County Sheriff's deputies said Mr. Price was driving east on Telephone Road near Solon east of Cortland when the pickup truck he was driving slid on wet pavement.
He lost control of the truck which climbed a bank and overturned in the highway, throwing Mr. Price to the pavement, according to the deputies.
Mr. Price was taken to Cortland Memorial Hospital by the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad. He died at 6:05 pm.
He was the owner and operator of W. J. Price and Son farm equipment business in Homer. He was a member of the State Farm Machinery Dealers Association and the United Commercial Travelers.
He was a member of the Homer Avenue Methodist Church and served in the National Guard as a first lieutenant.
Surviving are his widow. Mrs. Thelma Price; his parents, William J. Price of Scott and Mrs. Mae Bingham of Moravia; a son, [omitted for privacy]; two daughters, [omitted for privacy]; two brothers, [omitted for privacy]; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Brieems Brothers Memorial Home, Homer. The Rev. Robert J. McCune, pastor of the Homer Avenue Methodist Church, will officiate.
