Mary Price was born on the 9th day of the 12th month, 1744 (February 9, 1745)[1] She was a daughter of Mordecai Price and Elizabeth White. However, Schaf’s “History of Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Maryland” cites Elizabeth COLE as Mary’s mother.
Mary married Daniel Haines, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Haines of the township of West Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania, on March 25, 1762 at Gunpowder Meeting in Baltimore County, Maryland.[2][3]
Mary and Daniel settled in Pipe Creek, then Frederick County, Maryland on land inherited from Daniel’s father. They were received at Fairfax Monthly Meeting on certificate dated 5 mo. 26, 1762. In 1762, Pipe Creek established its own Monthly Meeting, of which Daniel and Mary were members.
Daniel and Mary had four children, who were:
Samuel Haines (1763-1833), m. Lydia Haines;
Jesse Haines (1765-1769);
Issac Haines (1767-1893), m. Rhoda Doran; and
Deborah Haines (1769-1781).
Daniel enslaved Tamer, Courcly, and Sarah, whom he freed by his Will when they reached age 25.
Daniel died in Pipe Creek, Maryland in 1770, between January and March. His will was written on 6 January 1770 and was probated on 21 March 1770.
In 1773, Mary married Samuel Cookson, the son of Samuel Cookson and Sarah Mendenhall. It was the second marriage for both; Samuel had been married first to Jane, by whom he had four children.
Mary and Samuel had two children, who were:
Daniel Cookson (1774-1835), m.Sarah Edmundson; and
