Biography
Fredericka E. (Pries) Manthey, 72, a resident of Bremer County, Iowa for 39 years (1893-1932) passed away on 9 November 1932 at her home in Waverly, Bremer, Iowa where she had been ill with heart trouble for quite some time. She was born on 22 August 1860 at Downers Grove, DuPage, Illinois, a daughter of Karl Christian Friedrich Ludwig Pries, 1829-1911 and Dorothea Charlotte (Held) Pries, 1831-1905.
As a small child she traveled with her parents to settle in Bremer County, Warren Township. In 1888, she married Charles Henry Manthey at Charles City, Iowa.
Mrs. Manthey was survived by: her daughter, Eldora (Manthey) Scott, b. 1893 of Waterloo; siblings, Dora Elizabeth (Pries) Ehlert, b. 1859 of Sumner, Iowa; Emma (Pries) Traetow, b. 1864 and Hulda (Pries) Thiemann, b. 1869 both of Waverly; Louis Frederick Pries, b. 1871 and John F. Pries, b. 1875 both of Bremer, Iowa; grandchildren, Ruben; Rubena; Rosalyn Judisch; Eldora; Loren; Arlo Scott; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Charles, 1857-1923; siblings, Wilhelmina Dorothy (Pries) Mueller, 1854-1919; Karl Wilhelm Pries, 1856-1929; and infant Pries, 1863-1863.
Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., 12 November 1932 where the Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiated.
Burial followed at the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly, Bremer, Iowa. The findagrave memorial ID is 42790534. The pall bearers were: Carl Traetow; Ewald Thiemann; Louie Pries, Jr.; Arthur Pries; John Pries, Jr.; and Henry Ehlert, all nephews of the deceased.
