According to the 1875 Everts atlas of Clark County, Ohio (p 76), a John Priest in Pike Twp had 128 acres in the northwest area of Section 27 (twp 3, r 10), and Honey Creek ran through it (buried at Honey Creek Cemetery). Two structures are shown on his property. Census records indicate that our John Priest lived in Pike Twp, Clark County.
Another source (Rockel 1908:292) says that John Priest was an early settler of Pike Township, coming from Virginia via Kentucky. This same source, p 298, wrote "The Christian Church was organized in 1839. Among the original members were John Priest, Andrew Clark, Nancy and Mary Clark, John Richeson and their families. In 1852 the present building was erected. This church is located in the northwestern part of the township, about one mile east of the Miami County line."
John's middle initial, "M," is from a Find A Grave memorial only.
