Biography

Martha was born in 1823. Her parents were Joseph Prince and Milly Barnett. [1]

Martha can be found in the household of her widowed mother in Union District, South Carolina in the 1850 census records. [2] At the time the 1860 census was taken in Union County, South Carolina Martha was living with her brother Gist Prince and his family. [3]

When the census was taken in 1870, Martha was found as a cook in the home of Elizabeth Glen in Scuffletown, Laurens County, South Carolina. [4] Martha's sister Precia Langston and family were also in this household.
