Dr. Jesse Lee Prince attended medical school and became a licensed physician. He was a brother to William Samuel Prince, who helped to send him through medical school. Willie Irene Prince had appendicitis. They called uncle Jesse who lived in Stevenson, AL, but her appendix had ruptured before uncle Jesse could get there. Uncle Jesse operated on her in Woodville, AL on the dining room table. She lived and became my mother. Willie Irene Prince went to a one room school house in Woodville. Everyone drank from the well using one dipper. One of the students had caught typhoid fever and gave it to all the other students. Uncle Jesse wouldn't let mother eat anything except water with a little turpentine in it. – Hand written by Alabama Rose (Abbott) Allen
