Jack was born in autumn 1917, the second child and second son of John Pringle and Elsie Joule. Half-sister Mona and brother Jim were already part of the household.
The family lived at 326 East 18th Avenue,[1] with brother Charles Ernest arriving in 1919. By 1920 the family lived at 8667 Cartier Street.[2][3] Brother Ian Melrose and sister Ellen Isobel arrived, and by 1923 the family had moved to 2026 West 41st Avenue.[4] Sister Elsie Sarah followed, and by 1926 the family lived at 6460 Ontario Street,[5] where father John passed away the following year at age 54. Jack was nine.
The 1931 Canada census found Jack living with his mother and six siblings at 81-39th Avenue East in Vancouver.[6]
Jack attended Van Horne elementary school but did not graduate high school.[7] The Second World War saw Jack serve as a Private with the Westminster Regiment and Loyal Edmontons. A broken leg had him on the wounded rolls in spring 1944.[8]
At age 29 In autumn 1946, Jack married 24-year-old Dolly Ridge at her parents' home in Vancouver.[9][10] The pair had a daughter, then divorced in summer 1949.[11]
Trafford John Pringle passed away in autumn 1979.[12]
