Biography

Chuck was born in autumn 1919, the third child and third son of John Pringle and Elsie Joule. Half-sister Mona and brothers Jim and Jack were already part of the household.

At first the family lived at 326 East 18th Avenue.^[1] By 1920 the family lived at 8667 Cartier Street.^[2][3] Brother Ian Melrose and sister Ellen Isobel arrived, and by 1923 the family had moved to 2026 West 41st Avenue.^[4] Sister Elsie Sarah followed, and by 1926 the family lived at 6460 Ontario Street,^[5] where father John passed away the following year at age 54. Chuck was seven.

The 1931 Canada census found Chuck living with his mother and six siblings at 81-39th Avenue East in Vancouver.^[6]

Chuck attended Van Horne elementary school but did not graduate high school.^[7] The second world war saw him serve in Canada, first on Vancouver Island, and later in Ontario.

At age 22 in spring 1942, Chuck married 20-year-old Florence Williams-Clark at Rosedale, BC.^[8]

Charles Ernest Pringle passed away in winter 1983:^[9]

Charles E. Pringle of Lake Cowichan died Jan. 17 at Cowichan District Hospital. Funeral service has held Jan. 20 at United Church, Lake Cowichan.

He was born in Vancouver in 1919 and he lived in Rosedale for many years until 1966.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ted ... of Lake Cowichan, three daughters, ... Elsie Pringle of Duncan, Ann Williams of Chilliwack; ... two sisters, Elsie (Mrs. Tom) Huntley of Burnaby and Mona Pockett of Vermilion, Alta.; Marge and Frank Joule, aunt and uncle of Bellingham, Wash.

He was predeceased by his wife Marguerite. ^[10]
