• Farm Hand/Milker/Field Worker - Carl and his family worked with his father and mother on farms in Weld County. Carl and most of his brothers sacrificed finishing their high school education for the family farm to thrive.

• Beet Worker - during winters following harvest Carl worked three months of the year at the Greeley Sugar Beet Factory^[2]. When Carl was single he worked three sugar beet campaigns starting with shoveling beets, then high line unloading which were the cars on the high line. During Colorado winters, this proved to be very cold work with frozen beets. He also worked inside the sugar factory to flume the beets^[3]. He was asked to work year-round at Great Western Sugar as an extra station man. Following his marriage and the chance to farm, Carl chose farming over factory work with his first farm land in Wiggins, Colorado.^[4]

• Truck Driver Helper - McDoy Distributing, Greeley, Colorado. Helped deliver beer and kegs around northeastern Colorado.

• Farmer/Cattlerancher - leased several farms until he eventually purchased his own farms in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Carl also became an O'sGold Corn and Asgrow seed dealer and is known for his beautiful corn crop. Carl also farmed potatoes, beans, alfalfa, and sorghum, along with corn. Carl continues to raise and sell cattle.
