Claud was born in 1930. He was the son of Joseph Pritchard and Cassie Betts. He passed away in 2011.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lena Betts Pritchard. Mr. Pritchard was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, Claremont Masonic Lodge No. 64, and the Iris Chapter No. 149 Order of Eastern Star. He was a U.S. Air Force master sergeant with 23 years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a retired employee of the Sumter Police Department.
