Biography

WHITE - Cora Virginia White of 792 W. 11th St. died at her home May 13th, 1953 at the age of 72 years. She was born Oct. 19, 1879 in Junction City, Kansas, the daughter of Nelson B.and Emma S. Pritchett. She came to Oregon in 1890, was educated in the Eugene Schools and attended the University of Oregon. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Auxiliary of V.F.W. Spanish American War Auxillary, past president club of V. F. W., Willamette Court No. 2, Order of Amaranth, Lydia Temple Daughters of the Nile. She was united in marriage to Major William G. White Sept. 25, 1900 in Eugene and celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at their home in the year 1950. Besides her husband who survives her, is 1 son: Melvin H. White of Portland; a grandson, Clayton D. White of Pasco, Wash; a sister, Mary E. Burgess of Eugene; 2 nieces: Mrs. Lorraine Strome of Eugene and Mrs. Virginia Tunks of Los Angeles. Funeral services will be conducted in Simon-Lounsbury Mortuary Monday, May 18, 1953 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Edwin W. Hughes will officiagte with interment in Mulkey Cemetery.
