William Proctor was born in Cole County, Missouri on the 26th of August, 1836 to Moses Proctor.
In 1860 he would be living in Claytonville, Brown County, Kansas Territory working as a farmer with real estate worth about $2,000 and a personal estate of $500. In the home were Moses Proctor(52 inferred father), Wm P Proctor(24) and John Proctor(20 inferred brother)[1]
He would marry Matilda Crawford on the 20th of September, 1860 in Brown County, Kansas Territory, Samuel C. Shields, the Justice of the Peace, would officiate[2] and they would have:
In 1865 the family was living in Claytonville, Brown County, Kansas. In the home were WP Proctor(28), MF Proctor(22), Ella Proctor(4), and Ida B Proctor(2)[4]. He also would be appointed as Postmaster for Claytonville the same year on the 24th of March[9]
In 1870 he was living in Claytonville, Brown County, Kansas[3] he would be working as a farmer with Real Estate value worth about $6,200 and personal estate about $1,000. In the home were WP Proctor (34), Matilda Proctor(28), Ella Proctor(8), Ida Belle Proctor(6) and John Proctor(4)
He died on the 27th of June, 1872 in Brown County, Kansas and would be buried in the Claytonville Cemetery in Horton, Brown County, Kansas[10]. This would leave Matilda a young widow with 4 children to care for.
