Biography

Edward was born on 28 August 1733 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of John Proctor (1703-) and Hannah (Sunderland) Proctor (1707-abt.1795). [1] [2]

Edward married Judith Clark on 26 September 1754 in Boston, Massachusetts.[3]

Edward and Judith had the following children born in Boston: [2]

  3. Judith Proctor, b. May 17, 1762.

2nd Lieutenant Edward Proctor enlisted on 9 May 1776 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States in Captain Joseph Blach's 3rd company in Colonel Thomas Crafts' regiment.[4] 1st Major in Col. Henry Bromfield's and Col. Jabez Hatch (Boston) regt. of Mass. militia, chosen Lieutenant Colonel Oct. 9, 1777, chosen Colonel March 21, 1780. [5] [6] [7] [8]

Judith died in 1790. Edward married Mary Adams on 22 August 1790 in Boston, Massachusetts.[9]

Edward married Hannah Atkins in 1791. [2]

Col Edward Proctor died (age 78) on 1 November 1811 in Boston. [10] He is buried in Copp's Hill Burying Ground in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. [11]

Edward wrote his will on 7 October 1811.[12] His estate passed probate on 7 November 1811. Beneficiaries mentioned In his will:

The records for the Edward Proctor who was a Lieutenant in the artillery regt and those for the Edward Proctor who was a Colonel overlap, so which is which? More sources needed. SAR seems to think this profile is for the Colonel, so I'm going with that for now.
