Category Usage

The following are Maintenance Categories for use on profiles if needed. Just copy and paste the category tag to the top of the text section of the profile.

[[Category:Unsourced Profiles]] - When possible, instead of this category, use one of its subcategories to list it in a specific country, eg. [[Category:United States Unsourced Profiles]], [[Category:English Unsourced Profiles]], etc. The initial use of the Unsourced Template (see below) will put the initial catgory on the profile, the use of additional categories is welcomed, especially when they lived and died in different places.
[[Category:Long Profiles in Need of Cleanup]]
[[Category:Needs Merging]] - Use for difficult merging cases only.
[[Category:Family Brickwall]] - For profiles in which there are no parents attached or are unknown.

Uncertain

When dates, parents, or locations are uncertain, make sure to select the uncertain button.

For when only a parent or child are in question, don't use the Uncertain Family box, just mark the family member as uncertain, since the Uncertain Family box is only "for when a person's position in their current family group is so uncertain that it borders on speculation, and/or when two or more of their relationships are highly uncertain."
