About the Project

The Barr Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Barr name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Barr name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Barr's), by time period (18th Century Barr's), or by topic (Barr DNA, Barr Occupations, Barr Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

Have many Barr's in my tree, here because there is a place called "Bible Rescue", they try and reunite people with these old bibles, and it was brought to my attention that there is a Barr owned Bible there, and since I am where I am and what I do I might be able to connect it with some relatives.

I don't know if I am in the right place to do this, must not be a lot of Barr descendants. I was thinking of attempting to put the family together and see what happens. It is located at "https://www.biblerescue.org/bibles/lewis-washington-barr_ff4873d4" and lists birth and death dates of 8 Barr's and the wife of one who is a Myers.

Hi

I decided to check on Wikitree for more information on peoples Headstones I'm adding to the Australian Cemeteries Index website. I have information on a Headstone containing inscriptions for 3 Barr Family members. Duffin Barr, Norman Duffin Barr & Colin Robert Barr. Let me know if you need anymore information. P.S. Your link to send you a private message isn't working. Jen

Hi Susan,

This sounds like a great fit for the One Name Studies Project. They can help give you pointers on how to set up your search for Barrs.

Thanks!
