Karla Beatty - I am working on the Beattys that settled in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, specifically the three brothers that "came over the mountains" - James, John, and Samuel Beatty.

Jody Rodgers - my 5th great-grandmother was Rebecca Beatty Cullins. Her great-grandfather was the immigrant ancestor, John Beatty of Ayrshire, Scotland, who married Susannah Asfordby. They settled in Marbletown, New York (Susannah moving south to Frederick Co., Maryland following John's death).

Patrick Crotty Jr - my Great Great Grandfather Ira Beatty is likely Plantation Irish and his son, Thomas, emigrated to Erie Pennsylvania in the 1870s. I have no details about Ira other than he lived in Pettigo, where Thomas was born.

Family Research Projects

I am seeking any information about John Beatty born about 1796 near Trenton, NJ. Died 1889 in Fayette County, PA. He married Isabelle Hyndman about 1820 in Pennsylvania. I am searching for information about his parents.

Old biographical sketches from the 1800s say that his father was James Beatty, but I have not been able to find any likely candidates for this and I am unable to confirm the name. The family lore says >>there were "three Beatty brothers that came over the mountain from New Jersey to Pennsylvania." The names were James, John, and Samuel. Their father was James born in New Jersey. His father was James born in Ireland arrived in the colonies before the Revolutionary war.<<

We are in the Beatty2000DNA project as lineage 54. The family is well documented from this John Beatty onward. Any information or clues about the prior history/family would be appreciated.
