Project: Belgium/How to find unindexed digitized entries in the FamilySearch database
The closure of the website Zoekakten.be has deprived a lot of genealogists from an easy and well-maintained source to search the unindexed digitalized images of Dutch and Belgian Civil and Parish registers.
That doesn't mean that the underlying access has disappeared.
To find images in the unindexed collections of digitalized images Belgian Civil and Parish registers stored in Familysearch you can try genealogiewerkbalk (in dutch) or navigate through the FamilySearch catalog for the Netherlands or Belgium
The quickest way to get to those documents is :
Method 1 : Search through the Catalog
- Click the SEARCH-tab from the main menu and click "CATALOG" in the drop down menu

- Type the name of your city/municipality in the search box and click SEARCH

- A selection list of folded archives will be displayed

- click one to show the archived subject/period collections
|

- click to select a subject subject/period collection to show the stored films
|

- Click on the camera icon to open the film
- Now you can start looking for index pages and search for the source document you need
Method 2 search through the Collections
- Click the SEARCH-tab from the main menu and click "Records" in the drop down menu that gives you the main search page,

- locate the section "Find a Collection" and click the "Browse all the collections" link.
- At the Collections page, type "Belgium" in the filter field

- don't enter any info here but select and click the link "Browse through xnumberx images" at the bottom of the screen.
- this will open a list of links to subdivisions of the collection (ex. the province of Antwerp list of cities and (historical) municpalities.

This method allows the user to access records from approx 179x - 1906 (depending on the municipality) These pages are no longer maintained and you need to use method 1 to access records from 1900-1920
