Cape of Good Hope Template Needs System
WikiTree Guideline for all Project Managed (and/or PPP) Profiles is they all need to have the proper Project Template + the Project Account added as manager ! Our Project has two basic templates
- For all Dutch Cape Colony Settlers: Template Dutch Cape Colony
{{Dutch Cape Colony}}
adds all profiles to this (Project) Category: The Dutch Cape Colony 1652-1806 - For all Ancestors who didn't emigrate or live in the Cape Colony: Template Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony
{{Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony}}
adds all profiles to this (Project) Category: Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony Settler
- And our Project Account: wikitree-cape-of-good-hope-project@googlegroups.com
Cape of Good Hope Categories
- Our Cape of Good Hope project has four important categories where you can find all profiles part of the project:
- 1.' The {{Dutch Cape Colony}} Project Box (template), adds all profiles to this (Project) Category: The Dutch Cape Colony 1652-1806, contains all profiles part of the Cape of Good Hope Project. Some are validated, PPP't and have the project added as manager already, others still need validation and more work...
2. Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony Settler (contains all Ancestors of Settlers and their descendants, same as above)
► To add profiles to this category without using the template, add (or copy and paste this one) this category to the top of the bio of the profile:
[[Category:Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony Settler]]
3. [[Category: Cape of Good Hope Ready]]: These profiles are ready for further enhancement, they all are a) primarily validated (LNAB), and b) PPP't ([[[Project:Cape_of_Good_Hope_-_Kaap_de_Goede_Hoop_(1652-1806)/Project_Profiles#Project_as_Manager|Project Profile Protected with the Project as manager]]), but could still use more sources, like marriage-death records or other info or attention.
► To add profiles to this category, add (or copy and past this one) this category to the top of the bio of the profile:
[[Category: Cape of Good Hope Ready]] and we can find them all here: Cape of Good Hope Ready
4. [[Category: Cape of Good Hope Stamouer-Progenitor]], for our Project these are not the deep ancestors, but only those that migrated to the Cape, died on the way, or lived there for some time.
► To add Profiles to this category, add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile:
[[Category: Cape of Good Hope Stamouer-Progenitor]], and we can find them all here: Cape of Good Hope Stamouers-Progenitors
5. [[Category:Slaves at Cape of Good Hope]] , for our Project these are all the slaves that migrated to the Cape as well as those who was born in bondage.
► To add Profiles to this category, add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile:
[[Category:Slaves at Cape of Good Hope]] , and we can find them all here: Slaves at Cape of Good Hope
COGH Template Needs (Maintenance) System
- The Cape of Good Hope project is using a Template Needs (Maintenance) system, our templates {{Dutch Cape Colony}} or {{Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony}} now in a very easy way can also be used to automatically add a specific needs (maintenance) category to COGH profiles.
By changing just the last word(s) in the template, if the profile 'needs' something else, it can be moved to the next step in the process or a different needs category.
Sometimes a profile will have more then just one need, you can add up to three needs with the template, it works and should look like this: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=LNAB|needs1=PPP|needs2=Research}} All combinations are possible of course depending on what the profile 'needs'.
Below you will find all templates with a little explaining:
- The Cape of Good Hope project is using a Template Needs (Maintenance) system, our templates {{Dutch Cape Colony}} or {{Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony}} now in a very easy way can also be used to automatically add a specific needs (maintenance) category to COGH profiles.
- 1. needs=Validation: For profiles that still need a primary source (Birth-Baptism record) to determine the correct LNAB. Many profiles will have been sourced with secondary sources, but need primary records for validation. So instead of using "Unsourced" we prefer needs=Validation.
►Add the template like this (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=Validation}}. They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs Validation
2. For profiles that need PPP ([[[Project:Cape_of_Good_Hope_-_Kaap_de_Goede_Hoop_(1652-1806)/Project_Profiles#Project_as_Manager|Project Profile Protected with the Project as manager]]).
►Add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=PPP}}. They all can be found here:Cape of Good Hope Project Needs PPP
3. needs=Research: If there are issues that need further research (conflicting info or secondary sources, new information (but still to be verified), DNA research, etc.)
►Add (or copy and paste this one) the template like this to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch Cape Colony|needs=Research}}. They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs Research
4. needs=PPP Removed: These Cape of Good Hope profiles for various reasons (name correction, merge, etc.) have to be de-PPP't (=PPP removed), leave a clear note (post) what or why this needs to be done to the profile or the Bio.
►Add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=PPP Removed}}. They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs PPP Removed
5.needs=LNAB: The LNAB according the Birth/Baptism (or other record) needs to be corrected, also requires adding a post or note telling us what the correct LNAB has to be.
►Add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=LNAB}}. They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs LNAB.
6. needs=Transcription: For profiles that still need a transcription.
►add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=Transcription}} They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs Transcription
7.needs=Bio Integration For profiles that need Bio Integration, before or after a merge or if they are imported by a Gedcom or that just need a nice Bio
►add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=Bio Integration}} They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs Bio Integration
8. needs=Marriage Record: For profiles that still need a Marriage Record.
►add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=Marriage Record}} They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs Marriage Record
9. needs=Document image: For profiles that has a transcription but still need a document image. E.g baptismal / marriage.
►add (or copy and paste this one) to the top of the Bio of the profile: {{Dutch_Cape_Colony|needs=Document image}} They all can be found here: Cape of Good Hope Project Needs Document Image
- 1. needs=Validation: For profiles that still need a primary source (Birth-Baptism record) to determine the correct LNAB. Many profiles will have been sourced with secondary sources, but need primary records for validation. So instead of using "Unsourced" we prefer needs=Validation.
The Needs-Maintenance Categories
- Note: If profiles have more than three 'needs', because we can only add three needs with one COGH need template (to prevent profiles end up with two duplicate project boxes), for the other 'need' you'll have to use the category that normally is automatically created by the needs template (just copy the one you need here and paste it to the top of the Bio of the profile):
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_Validation]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_PPP]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_Research]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_PPP_Removed]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_LNAB]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_Transcription]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_Bio_Integration]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_Marriage_Record]]
- [[Category:Cape_of_Good_Hope_Project_Needs_Document_Image]]
Ancestors Templates or Categories of other Projects
- For all Ancestors who didn't emigrate or live in the Cape Colony: Template Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony
{{Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony}}
adds all profiles to this (Project) Category: Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony Settler
- For all Ancestors who didn't emigrate or live in the Cape Colony: Template Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony
- For Dutch ancestor Profiles managed by COGH we can also place:

- Combined with:
{{Ancestor Dutch Cape Colony|needs=LNAB}}
- Combined with:
- For German profiles manage by COGH we can place:
- [[Category: Cabo de Goede Hoop, Immigrants from Holy Roman Empire]]

{{Collateral Huguenot
|name=
|addinfo=<br> Descendants found refuge in the [[:Category:The_Dutch_Cape_Colony_1652-1806|Cape Colony]]
}}
- and in case of a Huguenot deep ancestor you can add (copy and paste this
