The Dutch 1700-1811 Project is a project for WikiTreers interested in improving the profiles of early Dutch people (1700-1811) and their descendants (1700-1811). This project serves as a forum for researchers and descendants of all people born in the Netherlands so for everyone with Dutch Roots. Mission is to improve and add sources to all profiles belonging to the Dutch 1700-1811 Project.

  4. Check out the To-Do list below to find something to help us work on, and add yourself (or ask one of us to) to that task

Dutch 1700-1811 Project

  1. For all members working on the 1700-1811 project/profiles, if you did'nt already of course, we would really appreciate for you to first take the Pre-1700 Self-Certification quiz ! Maybe you are wondering why? Well the 1700-1811 group is the ' in between group' ,some people still used patronymics, some people had last names, but were also registered without their last names very often, so that's why we ask for you to take the Pre-1700 Self Certification quiz as well.
  2. When profiles are ready, so sourced, reviewed and improved, the proper Dutch Roots template or Category needs to be added, so the Dutch Roots Project template at the top of the Bio and the project collateral prospect template and unsourced, etc need to be removed.
  3. Read the Dutch Roots Naming Convention! These conventions differ from WikiTree guidelines in the way prepositions are written in surnames and put in the name fields and the way patronyms are used as surnames.
  4. Here you can find more info about Dutch Patronymics and naming pattern and Patronymic Forms etc. see :movie about history of names/patronyms etc.
  5. If you have doubts or questions what to do, just ask for help/ some assistance here G2G Dutch Roots Project !
  6. If you want Dutch Roots Project profiles PPP't , after you sourced and improved them: All you have to do is send the links of the profiles you'ld like to have PPP 't to the Project leader Bea Wijma and she'll make sure they get PPP.
  7. If your profiles are ready and or PPP't by the project you can add the project profile as manager and remove your self if you like (in case you have a lot of profiles and would like to reduce the amount of profiles you're managing , this way you know for sure the profile is taken care of and will be watched over by the project ) or just add the project profile as additional manager of course and stay manager your self as well.
  8. For all profiles already added to any other project, always first ask in G2G what to do and wether they should/could be added to the Dutch Roots project or not before adding the Dutch Roots Template !

As of Saturday September, 4th 2021 the Dutch Roots Projects asks of all it's members to stop adding the project as manager of profiles. This because we are waiting for the results of the discussion about new criteria for this before we want to add more.
It is recommended to place the Dutch Roots Sticker with the year in it.

The text below is temporary and will be updated further when the new criteria for Project Managed Profiles
and Project Protected Profiles are known.

Project members work together to improve these profiles and project-protect them to ensure that merges on these profiles are done in the right direction. For those interested or curious here you can read:what protecting does and does not do and see: point 6
Any improvements you can make to the profiles of the Dutch Roots Project are welcome, but here are some specific goals we are working towards:
  1. All duplicates merged into lowest number, unless the correct LNAB has a higher number
  2. Final ID locked, marking the profile as project protected (must be done by one of theLeaders), if the profile meets those requirements. See for more info about merging : Merging 'how and why in the lowest number'
  3. Parents are correct and documented, Children are linked if able
  4. Biography is cleaned up, free of any GEDCOM junk, Ancestry trees, dead links, etc., and ideally has an actual written biography. So biography cleaned up and written, using the WikiTree Style Guide (can work with Profile Improvement Project for help)
  5. pertaining categories added, etc.
  6. templates added , template of the Dutch Roots Project Templates Only added if a profile is sourced and improved, if not please add the ( Pre-1700 profiles only ) Project:Collateral Prospect Template for the others (1700 - after 1811) you can add this template.{{Unsourced|Netherlands}}
  7. Attached family meets these goals, too
  8. Link Profile to Global Family Reunion/ Attached to the main WikiTree family tree, (ask the GFR for help)
  9. And find some connections between the Pre-1700 profiles and the 1700-1811 profiles, now many Dutch genealogies stop somewhere at late 1600 , early 1700, so it would be great of course if we could find 'loose' ends, missing links and (re)connect some of the lineages !

Ideeën of vragen?? / Ideas or questions ?? Hulp nodig ?? / Need Help ??

To see details about the task, volunteer, participate in the discussion, or ask questions about it, click on the link, which will take you to the G2G Dutch Roots Project thread about the task. Be sure to post on that thread if you complete the task so we can take it off the list!"

1.Task for all Dutch 1700-1811 project members start sourcing and improving your own 1700-1811 Dutch profiles, add the Dutch Roots template ready with this task, than just see if you can find other Dutch profiles that need sourcing and improvement, maybe members that now maybe are busy working on the Dutch Pre-1700 project/profiles would like for you to help sourcing and improving some of their 1700-1811 profiles as well ? Just ask for help if you like this idea and/or could use some help ! Or for these Pre-1700 members just add {{Unsourced|Netherlands}} to your Dutch 1700-1811 profiles that need to be sourced and /or improved.
2.Task for all Dutch 1700-1811 Project members as well is to trace Unsourced Dutch 1700-1811 profiles and add this template: {{Unsourced|Netherlands}}.
3.Here you can find the Dutch Unsourced 1700-1811 Profiles Nederlandse Profielen zonder bronnen /Dutch unsourced profiles Source and improve them and if they are ready remove the {{Unsourced|Netherlands}} and add the Dutch 1700-1811 Project template !

Dutch Roots Project Templates

  • Here you can find the: Dutch Roots Templates Only added if a profile is sourced and improved, so some info added to the Bio or contents.
  • Hier kun je de : Dutch Roots Templates vinden Deze alleen toevoegen als een profiel voorzien is van bronnen en er verder ook goed uit ziet , dus de Bio en of contents voorzien van wat informatie.
The template creates categories and categorizes all profiles as well, the main ones already are created, so by adding the template you can find the profiles here:
De template maakt categorieën en categoriseerd alle profielen ook meteen, de hoofdcategorieën zijn al gemaakt, dus na het plaatsen van de templates kun je hier de profielen vinden:
Category:Nederlanders 1700-1811

Need some help from our Project ? Project Profile

To make sure projects can keep track of and watch over their PPP'd or other project profiles, we now have a Project Profile that's added to all Pre-1811 profiles. Here: Project Profiles, you can read what a Project Profile does and why it was created for the projects. We are still experimenting, but if members accept the invitation of the Project Profile, they will receive the Project Profile feed and this will make it easier for project members to participate, because by this feed they always will know what we are working on (where the action is) and can join and help as well. :)
For Project Members: If you have Dutch Roots Profiles that are finished, so sourced, improved and templated and or PPP'd, this is a possibility to either reduce the amount of profiles you're managing and be sure the profiles are taken care of and watched over by the project, or by adding the Project profile as additional manager to make sure we all can watch over the PPP'd and finished profiles you're managing.
For all Wikitree members: The project profile is added to all Dutch Pre-1811 profiles, we can do it for you, if you are managing a lot of Dutch profiles, but just don't have enough time to work on them and get them finished, or you don't know where to start or find the proper sources for them, and if you really would like and could use some help sourcing and improving any of the Dutch Pre-1811 ones you're managing :
This is how you can add the Project Profile as manager:
1.Click the Privacy tab on these Dutch profiles.
2. In the Add to Trusted List section, enter: and press Add this Person
3. To add the Dutch Roots Project as manager: In the Trusted List section, select the link for to Add as Manager.
This way we can help and try to get them all finished and PPP'd if this is needed and maybe you would like to join the project as well ? see below :)
