  2. Add dutch_roots to your G2G tag feed followed tags to keep up with Project discussions and news
  3. Add your name and area or surnames of interest to the Dutch Roots Project Members page
  4. Check out the To-Do list below to find something to help us work on, and add yourself (or ask one of us to) to that task

Dutch After 1811 Project

  1. For all members working on the Dutch After-1811 project/profiles, if you didn't already of course, we ask you to first take the Pre-1700 Self-Certification quiz ! Why ? Working on your family tree you all at some point will reach the 1700-1811 people, and of course, if for a change you also would like to work on one of the other Dutch sub-projects (1700-1811/Pre-1700) .
  2. When profiles are ready, so sourced, reviewed and improved, the proper template needs to be added, so the Dutch Roots Project template at the top of the biography and the project collateral prospect template and unsourced, etc., need to be removed. Dutch Roots Templates
  3. Read the Dutch Roots Naming Convention! These conventions differ from WikiTree guidelines in the way prepositions are written in surnames and put in the name fields and the way patronyms are used as surnames.
  4. Here you can find more info about Dutch Patronymics and naming pattern and Patronymic Forms etc. see :movie about history of names/patronyms etc.
  5. If you want Dutch Roots Project profiles PPP't (project protected profile), after you sourced and improved them: All you have to do is send the links of the profiles you'ld like to have PPP 't to the Project leader Bea Wijma and she'll make sure they get PPP.
  6. If you have doubts or questions what to do, just ask for help/ some assistance here G2G Dutch Roots Project !
  7. For all profiles already added to any other project, always first ask in G2G what to do and whether they should/could be added to the Dutch Roots project or not before adding the Dutch Roots Template !

Goals

As of Saturday September, 4th 2021 the Dutch Roots Projects asks of all it's members to stop adding the project as manager of profiles. This because we are waiting for the results of the discussion about new criteria for this before we want to add more.
It is recommended to place the Dutch Roots Sticker with the year in it.

The text below is temporary and will be updated further when the new criteria for Project Managed Profiles
and Project Protected Profiles are known.

Project members work together to improve these profiles and project-protect them to ensure that merges on these profiles are done in the right direction. For those interested or curious here you can read:what protecting does and does not do and see: point 5
Any improvements you can make to the profiles of the Dutch Roots Project are welcome, but here are some specific goals we are working towards:
  1. All duplicates merged into lowest number, unless the correct LNAB has a higher number
  2. Final ID locked, marking the profile as project protected (must be done by one of theLeaders), if the profile meets those requirements. See for more info about merging : Merging 'how and why in the lowest number'
  3. Parents are correct and documented, Children are linked if able
  4. Biography is cleaned up, free of any GEDCOM junk, Ancestry trees, dead links, etc., and ideally has an actual written biography. So biography cleaned up and written, using the WikiTree Style Guide (can work with Profile Improvement Project for help)
  5. pertaining categories added, etc.
  6. templates added , Dutch Roots Project Templates Only added if a profile is sourced and improved, if not please add the {{Unsourced|Netherlands}}
  7. Attached family meets these goals, too
  8. Link Profile to Global Family Reunion/ Attached to the main WikiTree family tree, (ask the GFR for help)

Communicate

Ideeën of vragen?? / Ideas or questions ?? Hulp nodig ?? / Need Help ??
1. The Dutch Roots G2G is our way to communicate, it's very important all members participate and communicate here, so if you have ideas or questions, or something else related to the project please respond /add it at the Dutch Roots G2G and/or just try placing questions your self , always tag dutch_roots and add profile ID or link if it's about a profile you request help for and chose category request for volunteers or requests for genealogy help , this way we all can discuss things, and or help others that need or ask for help with Dutch profiles. So please browse this G2G any time you're looking for a way to contribute to the Dutch Roots project. You are needed ! See: to do task list below for help requests !!
Don't know how ? See: Help page: About G2G

To-Do or Task List

"To participate in the project, we have a list of tasks that we need accomplished. To see details about the task, volunteer, participate in the discussion, or ask questions about it, click on the link, which will take you to the G2G Dutch Roots Project thread about the task. Be sure to post on that thread if you complete the task so we can take it off the list!"
1. Primary task for all Dutch After-1811 project members is to first review / improve / source all of your own After-1811 profiles of people who were born in the Netherlands.
2. No After-1811 profiles and/or ready with your own ? For Dutch After-1811 profiles that need to be sourced/reviewed etc see: below or maybe ask members working on the other Dutch Roots sub projects if they would like you to source/improve some of their After-1811 profiles.
3. If a new After-1811 profile is a good candidate for Dutch Roots, you can first add this template: {{Unsourced|Netherlands}} if there are no sources.
4. So after the unsourced template is added, here the Dutch profiles that still need improvement, sources, can be found: Nederlandse Profielen zonder bronnen /Dutch unsourced profiles
5. If you want your Dutch Roots Project profiles PPP't , after you sourced and improved them: All you have to do is send the links of the profiles you'ld like to have PPP 't to the Project leader Bea Wijma and she'll make sure they get PPP.
6. For all profiles already added to any other project, always first ask in G2G what to do and whether they should/could be added to the Dutch Roots project or not, before adding the Dutch Roots Template !!
And also very important keep it fun, it's not a job, no race to win, just a group of people volunteering and working together on this, doing our best to make all (Dutch) Wikitree profiles as accurate and nice as we possibly can. If you need help or advice just ask , see part about G2G !

Dutch Roots Project Templates

The template creates categories and categorizes all profiles as well, the main ones already are created, so by adding the template you can find the profiles here:
De template maakt categorieën en categoriseerd alle profielen ook meteen, de hoofdcategorieën zijn al gemaakt, dus na het plaatsen van de templates kun je hier de profielen vinden:
Category:Nederlanders na 1811
and Here you can find the Other templates

Need some help from our Project ? Project Profile

To make sure projects can keep track of and watch over their PPP'd or other project profiles, we now have a Project Profile that's added to all Pre-1811 profiles. Here: Project Profiles, you can read what a Project Profile does and why it was created for the projects. We are still experimenting, but if members accept the invitation of the Project Profile, they will receive the Project Profile feed and this will make it easier for project members to participate, because by this feed they always will know what we are working on (where the action is) and can join and help as well. :)
For Project Members: If you have Dutch Roots Profiles that are finished, so sourced, improved and templated and or PPP'd, this is a possibility to either reduce the amount of profiles you're managing and be sure the profiles are taken care of and watched over by the project, or by adding the Project profile as additional manager to make sure we all can watch over the PPP'd and finished profiles you're managing.
For all Wikitree members: The project profile is added to all Dutch Pre-1811 profiles, we can do it for you, if you are managing a lot of Dutch profiles, but just don't have enough time to work on them and get them finished, or you don't know where to start or find the proper sources for them, and if you really would like and could use some help sourcing and improving any of the Dutch Pre-1811 ones you're managing :
This is how you can add the Project Profile as manager:
1.Click the Privacy tab on these Dutch profiles.
2. In the Add to Trusted List section, enter: wikitree-dutch-roots-project@googlegroups.com and press Add this Person
3. To add the Dutch Roots Project as manager: In the Trusted List section, select the link for wikitree-dutch-roots-project@googlegroups.com to Add as Manager.
This way we can help and try to get them all finished and PPP'd if this is needed and maybe you would like to join the project as well ? see below :)
