  • Jamie - My earliest Griggs ancestor is Henry Harmon Griggs. The first name of his father is unknown. Henry's mother was working for his father's family in West Virginia when she got pregnant. My goal is to research West Virginia Griggs in order to find out who his father was.
  • Peter - Griggs is my wife's maternal line, her family seems to have lived in London, in the Greenwich, Southwick areas. The earliest ancestor I have found is Charles Griggs. He appears on his sons marriage certificate as a Barman, but that's all I have found up to now.

I don't know how to find this but someone mentioned a Minor Griggs in 1820's in Union County, Kentucky and seeking his parents. I cannot say for sure but check out Clement Griggs, son of Minus and Rachel (Sparks) Griggs as he moved to Union County, KY in late 1700's or early 1800's and may be the father. Clem was older brother of my ancestor Samuel Nelson Griggs.
