- Joelle Colville-Hanson -Project Manager My particular interest is Winnebago and Boone Counties. I volunteered to be project leader because I think there’s a lot of interesting history in Illinois and would like to help make this project one of the best documented and helpful resources on WikiTree. Feel free to contact me if you have ideas and want to help!

This above template is for use only on profiles that are of importance to the project or need to be PPP'd and managed by the project.
It is not for every single person from Illinois. The following sticker might be used in that circumstance:
{{Illinois Sticker}}=To use custom text in place of "an Illinoian", enter a vertical line followed by your chosen text, like these examples:

Goals
The overall goals of the United States Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in the state of Illinois. To meet these goals:
- Add Illinois-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
- If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
- Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
- Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
- Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
- Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.
List of Things to Do
- Need space pages created and developed for Illinois counties and linked to this page. Would you like to lead a county project?
- If you have any Illinois state resources that you are willing to do lookups, please add them to the Illinois Resources Page.
- If you live in Illinois, please consider adding Catalog: Illinois Research Assistance to your Wikitree profile page.
- Cemeteries in Illinois need to be photographed and the categories added to profiles on WikiTree. See the Illinois Cemeteries Project
- Add profiles for those who obtained land grants and homesteaded in Illinois. See the Homesteaders Project
- Help develop the Native Americans Project with information about Illinois state tribes.
- Work on Illinois profiles that are unconnected, need biographies and unsourced profiles.
- Create new profiles for people of Illinois who are documented in a family member's profile, but might not have their own profiles yet. See Needs Profiles Created
- Work on Suggestions for profiles from Illinois, as reported by the Data Doctors Project.
- Add profiles for the men who died in World War I, serving from Illinois in the Great War project and for the Roll of Honor project.
- Help find the Last Name at Birth (LNAB) for Illinois Unknowns using the Profile Improvement Project Unknowns Team Process
- Help add profiles with the US Black Heritage 1880 Project Teams
- Freepages on Immigration in Illinois
- Make profiles for Illinois Politicians and connect them to the larger Tree. A lot of Illinois Governors need expanded biographies and to be connected to the larger tree.
- Create One Place Studies for towns and counties in Illinois.
