Additionally:

  1. Answer the United States Project G2G post to have a Project Leader give you the United States Project badge.
  2. Add united_states to your followed tags so you can stay on top of other United States Project topics G2G.
  3. Please see our list of goals for a basic overview for ways you can help.
  4. Add the project box to important Maine profiles that need to be managed by the United States project on behalf of the Maine Project. (Do not add the template to all profiles of people from Maine. Use only with a few key profiles of people who are a significant part of Maine history and the Maine Project).

Goals

The overall goals of the US Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in Maine and the other states in the union. To meet these goals:

  1. Add Maine-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
  2. If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
  3. Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
  4. Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
  5. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
  6. Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.

List of Things To Do

  1. Need space pages created and developed for Maine counties and linked to this page. Would you like to lead a county project?
  2. If you have any Maine state resources that you are willing to do lookups, please add them to the Maine Resources Page.
  3. If you live in Maine, please consider adding your name to the Maine Research Assistance page.

Ongoing list of things to do

  1. Cemeteries in Maine need to be photographed and the categories added to profiles on WikiTree. See the Maine Cemeteries Project
  2. Help develop the Native Americans Project with information about Maine state tribes.
  3. Work on Maine's unconnected and unsourced profiles.
  4. Add profiles for the men who died in World War I, serving from Maine for the Maine in the Great War project and for the Roll of Honor project.
  5. Add Civil War badges to Civil War veterans of Maine Regiments. Maine Units in the Civil War
  6. Link profiles of people who attended Maine Colleges

Maine Project Box

Placing the project box template

Add the project box template to important Maine profiles. This template is for use only on profiles that are of importance to the project or need to be PPP'd and managed by the project. It is not for every single person from Maine. A sticker might be used in that circumstance.

The template is {{United States|sub-project=Maine}} which will give you:
