About the Project

The Morris Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Morris name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Morris name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Morris's), by time period (18th Century Morris's), or by topic (Morris DNA, Morris Occupations, Morris Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Isaac Newton Morris married Martha Elizabeth "Patsy" Ward in Bond Co. (Greenfield?) Illinois in 1830. I estimate that Isaac was born about 1807 in Virginia and Martha was born about 1807 in Kentucky. I assume the Morris's and Ward's migrated from Virginia along the National Highway Route. I seek the parents of these two individuals and any siblings or next of kin

Researching bio father, Alfred Morris, born circa 1920, Possibly born in NY or NJ, USA, or Ontario, Canada. He was a sax musician, and played in dance bands in Ontario, and presumably in the USA. DNA links show he may be descended from the Bryans family, who immigrated from Ireland circa 1890 to N Y or NJ. Any help with this brickwall will be greatly appreciated.I was born Richard Morris, in March 1950 to Alfred Morris, and my bio mother Margaret Hunter, in Toronto Ontario, if that helps.

My Brick Wall - Richard Charles Morris was born on October 3, 1857, in South Carolina. He had nine sons and three daughters with Eliza Ann Smoak between 1882 and 1901. He died on February 12, 1932, in Screven, Georgia, at the age of 74.

We've got all the children and their descendants, plus Eliza's family, but have been unable to find anything on the parents or siblings of Richard, aka Charlie Morris. Thank you
