This profile is part of the Mius Name Study.

This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect. Please contact the project leader, add categories to your profiles, add your questions to the bulletin board, add details of your name research, etc.

This study is to collect and analyse information on the Mius d'Entremont, Mius, d'Entremont, Muise, Meuse and other surnames descended from Philippe Mius d'Entremont and Madeleine Hélie. There is other research ongoing on their origins, this page is more to research descendants.

If someone wants to include the d'Entremonts here, i.e. descendants of Jacques, feel free to use this page too.

History

DNA

The Mius d'Entremont Y-DNA belongs to Haplogroup E (aka E-M96) , more specifically E1b1b1, also known as E-M35, one of two subclades of E-M215. You may see it written as E-V68 or E-V257, the two branches of E-M35. See more info at Wikipedia:Haplogroup_E-M215_(Y-DNA) Wikipedia.

Both the Mius and d'Entremont branches of the family have this Y-DNA. No other Acadian families do (add cite here.)

Indented Tree

The References is a modified Henry System, using letters instead of numbers. The system begins with A. The oldest child becomes AA, the next child is AB, and so on. The oldest child of AA is AAA, the next AAB, and so on. The system allows one to derive an ancestor's relationship based on their letter. For example, FBA is the first child of FB, who is the second child of F, who is the sixth child of his parents. See article on Wikipedia.

Seeking feedback... should the table of names be sortable to collaborate on analysis. It's a lot of work. Would an outline suffice?
