How to Join united_states.gif

For a full list of participants in the United States Project see the badge report.

Sarah Mason is Coordinator for the Nebraska Project.

It is not necessary that you be related to someone who lived in the state of Nebraska or live there yourself to join this project. Anyone with an interest is welcome! If you would like to participate, please do the following:

  1. Answer our G2G post and we'll award you the United States Project badge.
  2. Add United_States and Nebraska to your list of followed tags. That way you'll see all of our discussions in your G2G Feed.
  3. Please see our list of goals for a basic overview for ways you can help.

The template is {{US History|sub-project=Nebraska}} which will give you:

This template is for use only on profiles that are of importance to the project or need to be PPP'd and managed by the project. They are not for every single person from Nebraska. A sticker might be used in that circumstance.

Goals

The overall goals of the US History Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in the state of Nebraska. To meet these goals:

  1. Add Nebraska-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
  2. If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
  3. Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
  4. Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
  5. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
  6. Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.

List of Things to Do

  1. Need space pages created and developed for Nebraska counties and linked to this page. Would you like to lead a county project?
  2. If you have any Nebraska state resources that you are willing to do lookups, please add them to the Nebraska Resources Page.
  3. If you live in Nebraska, please consider adding your name to the Nebraska Research Assistance page.

Ongoing List of Things to Do

  1. Cemeteries in Nebraska need to be photographed and the categories added to profiles on WikiTree. See the Nebraska Cemeteries Project
  2. Add profiles for those who obtained land grants and homesteaded in Nebraska. See the Homesteaders Project
  3. Help develop the Native Americans Project with information about Nebraska state tribes.
  4. Work on Nebraska's unconnected and unsourced profiles.
  5. Add profiles for the men who died in World War I, serving from Nebraska for the Nebraska in the Great War project and for the Roll of Honor project.
