The North Dakota Project is part of the United States Project.

Welcome to the North Dakota Project!

The purpose of this project is to coordinate all North Dakota related projects and resources and combine that information into one place.

The state of North Dakota became a United States territory as part of the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. It was originally part of the Minnesota and Nebraska territories until it was organized into the Dakota Territory in 1861 along with South Dakota. It became a state on Nov. 2, 1889.

This above template is for use only on profiles that are of importance to the project or need to be PPP'd and managed by the project.

It is not for every single person from North Dakota. The following sticker might be used in that circumstance for profiles of people who lived in North Dakota or played some role in its history, but aren't being managed by the project:

The overall goals of the US History Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in the state of North Dakota. To meet these goals:

  1. Add North Dakota-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
  2. If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
  3. Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
  4. Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
  5. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
  6. Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.
