The goal of this project is to find every non-living person with this surname and it's variants, make a wikitree profile for them. The O'Driscoll Family is a huge family that controlled the waters around the southwestern coast of County Cork, Ireland going back to at least the 1600s when Finian O'Driscoll was a seadog (privateer or pirate) working for Queen Elizabeth the First. They had castles all along the southern coast of County Cork, including in Loughine where Finian O'Driscoll is said to have died in his now ruined castle on an island there.

This project would like to document the entire history of the O'Driscoll Family in Ireland. We would like to connect with other online O'Driscoll projects and with Clan O'Driscoll which has Clan Gatherings from time to time. We would like to make profiles for every non-living O'Driscoll, find all the descendants who immigrated to the United States and elsewhere in the world, and connect all branches of the O'Driscolls to the global family tree.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • Adding sources
  • Adding categories
  • Adding relevant templates
  • Connecting family members to the global family tree.

Hi! I added text to the companion category for your name study (Category:O'Driscoll Name Study). Feel free to edit it. The default for the template is to add the main category, but you can add a line to have a different category. See the ONS template page for details. Give me a holler if you have any questions about categorization.

Cheers, Liz
