Does anyone have any information on the origin of the "Tanguay dit Sansoucy" name? The stepfather of my 6th-great-grandfather, Michel-Étienne Forget dit Despatis, was Guillaume Tanguay dit Sansoucy, born 3 Jun 1713 in Plouec, Bretagne, France and died 29 Apr 1772 in Quebec City. He arrived in New France sometime before 1748 and married my 7th-great-grandmother (Michel-Étienne's mother), Marie-Madeleine-Agathe (nee Bossu dit Lyonnais), in 1767. Michel-Étienne and his children adopted the surname Sansoucy/Sansoucie, so I was just curious about the origin of that "dit" name. Thanks!
