Mission

The US History Project aims to build profiles and free-space pages for those places and people who have explored, settled, founded, and built the US, both as a geographic area prior to nationhood, and as an established nation.

How to Join us_history.gif

The current Leaders of this project are Alison Andrus and Abby Glann

To see our current members, check out the badge feed.

To join the project:

  1. Answer our G2G post with what your interests are-are there certain sub-projects or states you'll be participating in?
  2. Add us_history to your G2G tag feed. G2G is also where our project has discussions so be sure to tag anything you want to talk about project related with the us_history tag.
  3. Check out the To-Do list below to find something to help us work on, and add yourself (or ask one of us to) to that task.

Goals

The mission of the US History project is to create, source, connect, and improve profiles and free-space pages related to the people and places in the building of the USA. It also serves as an umbrella under which many sub-projects can be started to cover events and places throughout the country's history. Our goals include:

  1. All duplicates merged into lowest number, using G2G to discuss LNAB issues as they arise
  2. PPP added to final profile, if it meets Project Protection Guidelines
  3. appropriate categories added, discussing with the Categorization Project as necessary for creation of categories without precedent
  4. templates added
  5. biography cleaned up and written, using the WikiTree Style Guide (can work with Profile Improvement Project for help)
  6. Attached family meets these goals, even if they are not part of the project (templates excluded)
  7. Attached to the main WikiTree family tree (ask the Connectors Project for help)
  8. Free-Space pages built to represent important events
  9. Nothing created without respected sources added-no Ancestry trees!

To-Do or Task List

To participate in the US History project, we have a list of tasks that we need accomplished. To see details about the task, volunteer, participate in the discussion, or ask questions about it, click on the link, which will take you to the G2G thread about the task. Be sure to post on that thread if you complete the task so we can take it off the list.
