There is no coordinator for this project. If you are interested, please contact one of the Leaders of the U.S. History Project.

It is not necessary that you be related to someone who lived in the state of Vermont or live there yourself to join. Anyone with an interest is welcome! If you would like to participate, please do the following:

  1. Answer our G2G post and we'll award you the US History Project badge.
  2. Add us_history and Vermont to your list of followed tags. That way you'll see all of our discussions in your G2G Feed.
  3. Please see our list of goals for a basic overview for ways you can help.

Goals

The overall goals of the US History Project are to create and develop profiles on WikiTree for those who lived in Vermont and the other states in the union. To meet these goals:

  1. Add Vermont-related profiles, checking for existing profiles to avoid duplication. If any duplicate profiles exist, request merges, starting with the oldest generation.
  2. If profiles were loaded by GEDCOM, use WikiTree Styles and Standards to clean up residue and broken links.
  3. Search out original rather than derivative documentation and add sources.
  4. Write comprehensive, well-sourced biographies.
  5. Make sure profiles of all family members are correct and documented.
  6. Profiles need to be linked to the greater WikiTree. Try to find the connection.

List of Things To Do

  1. Need space pages created and developed for Vermont counties and linked to this page. Would you like to lead a county project?
  2. If you have any Vermont state resources that you are willing to do lookups, please add them to the Vermont Resources Page.
  3. If you live in Vermont, please consider adding your name to the Vermont Research Assistance page.

Ongoing List of Things to Do

  1. Cemeteries in Vermont need to be photographed and the categories added to profiles on WikiTree. See the Vermont Cemeteries Project
  2. Help develop the Native Americans Project with information about Vermont state tribes.
  3. Work on Vermont's unconnected and unsourced profiles.
  4. Add profiles for the men who died in World War I, serving from Vermont for the Vermont in the Great War project and for the Roll of Honor project.
