Biography

John Proudfoot was born about 1797 in Ayton, Berwickshire, Scotland. His occupation was 'ploughman (on son robert's death certificate)'.

John married Sophia Henderson (1792 - <1861) on 5 Sep 1817 in Edrom, Berwickshire[1].

Their children were:

  1. John Proudfoot (~1818 - 1888)
  2. William Proudfoot (~1822 - 1916)
  3. Robert Proudfoot (1824 - 1878)
  4. Janet Proudfoot (~1827 - 1894)
  5. James Proudfoot (~1832 - ).

In 1841, John was living in Haflington Mains, Eccles, Berwickshire.

In 1851, John was living in Primside Mill, Morebattle, Roxburghshire[2].

John died about 1851 aged ~54.
