David, son and only child of David and Margaret (Whiton) Prouty, was born at Scituate, MA on May 18, 1778. He married Lydia Stoddard, daughter of Hezekiah, on August 4, 1795. They resided first at Hanover, MA where their five children were born.
In 1805, Abiel Farrow of Scituate was appointed guardian of his estate due to excessive drinking, idleness, and wasting his estate.[1]In 1807, Abiel Farrow and John Collamore both of Scituate were appointed guardians of his estate.[2]
After their children were grown they removed to Dorchester, MA as he had opened up an agricultural business in Boston, MA. He died at Dorchester on March 28, 1846 of consumption.
