No baptism record has been found for this individual. He was probably born about 1701. This birth year estimate is based on his reported age (about 70 years) at death in 1771; Tanguay (Vol. 6, p. 464) also estimates this birth year; Jetté (p. 950) estimates a birth year of 1702; PRDH (Individual No. 89250) estimates birth year of 1703. His place of birth is assumed to be the same as where his parents were married and several siblings were born.

Mariage de Simon Provencher de St-Jean-Baptiste-de-Nicolet et Marie Madeleine Lefevre (sic), fille de Monsieur René Lefevre, seigneur de la Baye-Saint-Antoine et de dame Gabrielle Foucault, le 15 nov 1734 à Baie-du-Febvre, paroisse St-Antoine-de-Padoue.[1]

His wife, Madeleine, died in 1751.

On 11 Jan 1768 "Simon Provenche," widowered of "Madeleine Lefebvre," married "Marguerite Lepitre," widow of "Francois Boudraut," at St-Jean-Baptiste, in Nicolet.

Simon est décédé le 27 mai 1771 et la sépulture a eu lieu le 28 mai à la cathédrale St-Jean-Baptiste. [2]

There is a baptism record for a "(first name blank) Provencher" (Drouin image - d1p_1145c1307.jpg) dated 13 Jan 1707, at Ste-Marie-Madeleine in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, that's sometimes attributed to this Simon Provencher. However, this 1707 baby, also known as Simon (PRDH Individual No. 63364) clearly had different parents; namely: Louis Provencher [Provencher-4] and Simonne Masse [Masse-27]. So, these two Simons were first cousins; their common grandparents were Sebastien Provencher (1634-1710) & Marguerite Manchon (1637-1688) (m. 1663).
