Agnes Prowse was born in March 1834 in Prince Edward Island.[1] She was the daughter of William Prowse and Agnes Rider. She married Charles Cox on January 12, 1857.[2]
On the 1861 census,[3]
the household of Charles & Agnes consisted of:
Males – 1 under 5, 1 age 5-16, 1 age 21-45
Females – 1 under 5, 1 age 21-45
2 married; 3 single
In the past year: 0 married, 0 deaths, 0 births
Religion: 5 Methodist
The female under 5 would be Sarah. They probably also had a son, who was the male under 5. The identity of the male, age 5-16 is unknown. This could be their son, or it could be a servant, given that they were only married in 1857.
In 1881, Charles & Agnes, along with daughters Sarah and Agnes, were living next to Agnes's brother Joseph and his family.[4] In 1891, living with them was their youngest daughter, Agnes, along with her husband and child.[5]
Agnes died on February 10, 1898, at the age of 63 years and 11 months. She left a husband and two daughters.[6]
