Biography

Percy George Pugh was born in 1896 in Orrell Post Orrell, Wigan. He was the son of Albert Pugh and Catherine (Perks) Pugh. His father was a platelayer.

By April 2nd, 1911, Percy's family was still living in Orrell. Percy, at 15, was working as a pony driver in a colliery. His father wasn't in the household.

Percy married Linda Morris on May 2nd 1915 at St Mark's church in Newtown, Pemberton. Percy father was listed as Albert Pugh, deceased, platelayer. Linda's father was listed as Harry Morris, contractor. It was a first marriage for both; Percy was working as a collier; and the witnesses were two of Linda's siblings, Richard Frederick Morris and Fanny Morris. They were married by licence. Percy's address was given as 3 Springs Road Orrell, and Linda's as 58 Ellesmere Road.

Percy died in 1962 in Worth Valley district, Yorkshire.
