Biography

Joseph was born in 1885. He was the son of Joseph Pulitzer and Kate Davis. He was fourth of seven siblings, though neither Lucille (#2) or Katherine (#3) made it to adulthood.

In the 1900 census, Joseph (age 17) was the single son of Joseph Pulitzer in Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States.[1]

Joseph Pulitzer married Elinor Wickham on 1 June 1910 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.[2]

Joe Jr.'s first wife Elinor Wickham died in 1925 in an auto accident.[3] They had a son and two daughters. A year later he married his second wife Elizabeth Edgar and had a son with her.[4]

Like his father, Joe Jr. had bad eyesight and, according to Time Magazine lost nearly all of it in March 1934. He probably was his father's least favorite son.

Joseph Pulitzer applied for a passport in 1920 in Missouri Township, Chariton, Missouri, United States.[5]

In the 1940 census, Joseph (age 55) was the married head of household in Mount Olive, St. Louis, Missouri, United States. He was a Newspaper Editior.[6]

Joseph was in a military record on 26 April 1942 in Clayton, St Louis, Missouri, United States.[7]His Draft Registration states he was blind in his left eye.

Joseph was mentioned on a memorial in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri, United States with a death date of 30 March 1955.[8][9]
