William was born in 1580. He passed away in 1640.
The Rev. William Pullein, or Pullen, or Pulleyn, was Rector of Ripley, Yorkshire.
He entered Peterhouse College, Cambridge, on 10 March 1575/1576, obtaining his B.A. 1579-80 and M.A. 1583. He was ordained priest at Peterborough on June 16, 1583.[1]
He was first married to Ester (surname unknown) by whom he had at least five children, Joshua, John, Susan, Richard, and Hellen. Ester died in 1593 and was buried at Ripley on 14 June 1593.[2]
William remarried to Johanna or Jane Sheffield on 12 November 1594 at Fewston. Her name has been transcribed as Hearfield in some indexes, and others have William's surname missing.[3][4] Known children of this marriage are Samuel 1598, Daniel 1601, another Daniel 1605, Nathaniel 1607, Maria 1611, Sarah 1612, William 1615.
William died in 1631 and was buried at Ripley on 8 April 1631, "Mr William Pullein Rector of Ripley".[5]
"Maria Pullein, the wife of Guy Fawkes, had a brother Walter Pullein who married Margaret Slingsby of Scriven [nr Knaresborough, Yorkshire]. Mary's cousin, Sir Henry Slingsby, 1st Bart. of Scriven, was executed by Cromwell on 8th June 1658. . . "
