No baptism found for Edmund at Ripley on Find my Past or Ancestry. Pulleyn/Pullen baptisms for Ripley are also listed in the book "Pulleyns of Yorkshire". The spelling Pulliam was not used at Ripley although occasionally Pullein has been misread as Pullem. There was only one known William Pulleyn having children at Ripley around 1600, which was Rev. William Pullein Rector of Ripley. He had 10 children but no Edmund is listed.[1]
Some online trees show Edmund as a brother of Edward Pulliam. This is stated in the book "Keeping up with the Smiths : Alexander Smith of Scotland and Virginia to Dewitt Talmadge Smith of Tennessee and Texas" which says that Edmund was the child of Rev William Pullem and was baptised at Ripley 1602, and that his brother Edward was baptised at Ripley 1607. However there is no source for either of these baptisms and there is another son Nathaniel baptised in 1607. Both Edmund and Edward are said to have gone to Virginia in 1636 and 1638.[2]
A possible father for the emigrant Edward is Rev Thomas Pulleyn Vicar of Pontefract 1597 - 1624, who had a son Edward baptised 21 April 1607 at Pontefract.[3] No Edmund found though.
