Biography

This profile is part of the Pumpa Name Study.

Fritz's name is included in the shipping manifest for the Heinrich in 1856, which brought the Pumpa family from Germany to Australia[1]. He was possibly a shearer, and married his first wife, Mary Menz, in 1877. They had one child together before her murder in 1880 at the hands of a swagman who held her and her father up for money before shooting them.

In 1883 he was remarried to Marie Stengel (or Stengal, or Stenzel).
