His family settled in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada. But, shortly after, a tragedy set in. Four people in their family passed away from Typhoid Fever in 1870.
His sister Elizabeth Edith Punchard died on 21 July 1870 at their home in Toronto when she was 5 years old. On 8 Aug 1870 their mother Elizabeth also passed away (34 years old) followed by Arthur Edward on 20 Aug 1870 (8 years old).
On 30 Aug 1870 Charles William Punchard passed away from Typhoid Fever at the age of 10 years. [4]
