Biography

Beatrice was born early 1902, possibly at Rattlesden within Stow registration district, Suffolk, England. Her mother was Caroline Punchard who was unmarried at the time.[1][2]

By the time Beatrice was baptised on 26 July 1905, she had been 'boarded out' at Dickleburgh by Stowmarket Union. Her mother was recorded as a 'Domestic Servant of Ipswich'. Two other girls from Stowmarket Union were baptised on the same day; Ivy May Lillistone, and Alice Katie Woods (Alice was boarded at the 'home for waifs and strays' at Dickleburgh).[3][4]

The 1911 census records Beatrice living at Scole, Dickleburgh, Norfolk, England in the home of 65-year-old widow Eliza Fish.[5]

Beatrice (aged 19) married tailor's presser Alan Marshall (23) in Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire on 24 December 1921. No name or profession is given for either of their fathers. They were both residing at 1 Warrels Place at the time of marriage.[6]

In 1939 the couple can be found living at 8 Raynville Mount, Leeds, with their son Derek born 16 Jun 1930. Beatrice (born 9 Feb 1902) is a Canteen Cook's Assistant and her husband Alan (born 5 Jul 1898) a Tailor's Presser. Also living with them is Betsy Marshall (born 21 Apr 1866), a Tailor's Machinist (retired), she is most likely Alan's mother[7].

Beatrice died in the first quarter of 1985 at Bradford, West Yorkshire[8]. Her husband Alan had predeceased her in 1966.
