John Punchard was born in Suffolk, England.

John Punchard was born about 1821 in Rattlesden, Suffolk, England to Jeremiah Punchard and Sarah (Ranson) Punchard. He was christened in Rattlesden on 3 Jun 1821.[1]

In 1841 John Punchard (age 20-24) lived at Church Yard in Rattlesden with his father Jeremiah (40-44), mother Sarah (40-44), and twelve younger siblings: Susan (19-23), Jeremiah (17-21), William (15-19), Mary Ann (11), Eliza (10), Charles (9), Ellen (7), Emma (6), Caroline (5), Ann (3), Henry (2), and George (0).[2]

John Punchard married Mehetabel Ward in 1843.[3]

John and Mehetabel had five children: Maria Punchard (1846-1847), Maria Punchard (1848-1853), John Punchard (1851-1858), Betsey Ward (Punchard) Webb (1858-1934), and John Punchard (1861-1868).

In 1851 John Punchard (age 29, Ag Lab) lived in Rattlesden with his wife Mehatabel (27) and daughter Maria (2).[4]

In 1861 John Punchard (age 39, Agricultural Labourer) lived at High Street in Rattlesden with his wife "Petro"? (27[37]) and two children: Betsey Word (2) and John (0).[5]

In 1871 John Punchard (age 49, Ag Labourer) lived in Rattlesden with his wife Mehelabel (47).[6] His daughter Betsy (13) was staying with her grandmother Susan Ward (84).

In 1881 John Punchard (age 59, Ag Lab) lived at Felsham Rd in Rattlesden with his wife Mehetabel (57) and mother-in-law Susan Ward (93).[7]

John's wife Mahatabel Punchard passed away in 1888.

In 1891 John Punchard (age 69, Agricultural Labourer) lived at Felsham Road in Rattlesden.[8]

John Punchard passed away in 1895, aged 73 years.[9]
