Violet Marion (Pung) Morrison was born on 30 April 1912 in Rochester, Monroe, New York to German-Americans Joseph Pung of Dorchester, Wisconsin and Margaret Kroeckel of Irondequoit. She had a single younger brother, Robert, who died as an infant. Violet married Leland Morrison of Plankinton, South Dakota in 1933 in Rochester, and together they had five children. She passed away on 27 April 1939 in Penn Yan, Yates, New York only two days after giving birth to her last child and was buried on May 1st in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
