In the 1950s She died in a hospital going in for surgery , never came out alive, heart issue & Cancer...not sure what type? She had a nervous breakdown when her son John (age2) never woke up after putting him to bed for the night. He had fallen down the stairs the day before while under a babysitters care, since he seemed fine and went back to playing no one thought he had a concusion! When John died, after the funeral she gave all their belonging away while Walter was at work. He came home to find Walter & Ann sitting by a drunk full of their clothes. So that's when Ann was given to Katherine Holvick & husband Mayor Ed Bader of AC New Jersey. Then Walter given to the boys schools....ended up moving home with his father. Then after (Billy) William was born , he was given to a family friend for adoption as Anne Purcell did not want anything to do withher new baby. My grand mother told me these stories of her mother, and how she walked the boardwalk and was homeless, she refused to come home. Eventually she was arrested & taken away in a white jacket after havinga fit in the trolly/ train office to come back to AC she did not want to pay the fee! She ended up in a home for the mentally ill, Belview? her sisters lived in philly so they tended to her there, that was Julia & Mary Purcell . She was eventually moved to Pleasantville , NJ.
