Floyd Purcell died June 29, 1930, in Colby, Thomas, Kansas.[2] Floyd wanted to spend the day flying airplanes, but his wife, Esther convinced him to take her to Hampstrongs Lake. (I need to identify this lake. Jean said it was four miles north of Colby.) Floyd died that day at the age of 26. They told Jean that he had a heart attack, but she believes he drowned, although he worked as a lifeguard.
Jean said that Esther blamed herself for his death, and was never the same after that day. Jean was told that her mother used to love to sing and dance, but Jean never knew that side of her.[8]
