Perhaps best known as a discoverer of nuclear magnetic resonance, Purcell's interests ranged broadly. He worked on radar development, wrote an important electronics textbook, and explored areas from radio astronomy to low-speed flow in viscous fluids. He shared the 1952 Nobel Prize in Physics for his co-discovery of nuclear magnetic resonance.
One of many obituaries with good information is from Harvard University.[1] Even better is a National Academy of Sciences Memoir with an extensive scientific history as well as some personal details and a selected bibliography.[2]
Research Notes
Edward has a fairly complete tree at familysearch.[3] So far I have not spotted any close connections to the global tree here. A profile which may represent an ancestor of Edward is Mary Lupton (1764-) and . Ancestors of Beth may be Petrus Buser (1738-) and Daniel Boyer (abt.1799-).
