Biography
Steven Purdy was born in Kentucky.
Stephen (or Steven) William Purdy was born about 15 March 1859, in Hopkins County, Kentucky, United States. He was the son of Aaron Purdy and Avey Chapell.
He was married 12 January 1882 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to America A. Fox.[1]
In the 1900 census, Stephen, age 41, was recorded as head of household, living and farming in Magisterial District 6, Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky, with his family. His wife, recorded as Mary was the mother of 7 children, 6 living at the time of enumeration.[2]
Steven William Purdy died 9 June 1946, in Dawson Springs, Hopkins, Kentucky, and was buried at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs,[3][4]

1859 was the year inscribed on his tombstone. The 1900 census shows his birth as May 1859 and his death record shows 15 March 1857.
