Biography

Grace Selena Pursell (married name Oxley) was born on 26 December 1872 in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Mary Ann (Crook) Pursell and Joseph Pursell.^[1]

Grace was an Anglican missionary and spent time in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia before her marriage.

She returned to Victoria and married Samuel James Oxley in 1901 in Warrnambool.^[2] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

• Samuel Malcolm Oxley (1902–1989)
• Alice Isabella Grace Oxley (1904–?)
• Grace Myrtle Oxley (1906–?)
• Winifred Edith Oxley (1908–2007)

Grace died on 10 March 1936 at Prince Henry Hospital, Little Bay, Sydney, aged 63 years, late of "Camerton", West Pennant Hills.^{[citation needed]} She had suffered carcionoma of the colon.^{[citation needed]} Her remains were buried at the Crematorium Northern Suburbs, Church of England.^{[citation needed]}

'Grace Avenue' in Beecroft, New South Wales is named after her.^{[citation needed]}
